Discipline
SECTION A. DISCIPLINE OF MEMBERS
Any member of the Organization who violates the Constitution and/or By-Laws of the Organization, or acts in a manner considered to be abusive, disrespectful or in any way is counterproductive to the goals and ideals of the Organization is subject to disciplinary action by the Board of Directors. Upon receipt of a written complaint by any member of the Organization alleging a violation against a member, and upon presentation of written evidence to substantiate the charge(s), the Board of Directors may, depending upon the seriousness of the violation, recommend that the offending member be, (1) fines, (2) suspended, or (3) expelled from the Organization. The aforementioned is not an all inclusive list of action which the Board may exercise.
SECTION B. SUSPENSION, ETC. Any member found either suspended or expelled shall forfeit their membership, rights and benefits in the Organization for the length of the disciplinary action.
SECTION C. APPEALS Any member who has been suspended, expelled or otherwise disciplined by the Organization has the absolute right to appeal. Such an appeal shall be submitted to the Board of Directors in writing no later than fifteen (15) days from the date the disciplinary action was initiated.
SECTION D. SPECIAL MEETINGS Upon receipt of notice of an appeal by the Board of Directors, the Chairperson of the Board shall schedule a special meeting of the general body within thirty (30) days for the sole purpose of hearing the member’s appeal.
SECTION E. VOTING ACTION Upon completion of the hearing the charged member shall excuse him/herself from the meeting, at which time the general body, a quorum being present, shall deliberate and vote as to what action to take. A 2/3 vote of the membership in attendance is needed to override the decision of the Board of Directors. The decision of the membership is final. If no decision can be reached by the general membership, the prior decision of the Board of Directors is final.
